Don has over 20 years of private equity experience both as a placement professional and as an investor. Prior to joining Crito in 2018, Don led Ariane Capital Partners' fundraising practice to top 10 and 12 rankings by Preqin and Pitchbook, respectively. Previously, he was a general partner with Dolphin Equity Partners, a private equity firm based in New York, which he helped form in 1998. During his tenure at Dolphin, Don helped raise two funds totaling $340 million. He has been a leader and member of teams responsible for investing $200 million in 12 portfolio companies. As a board member, he led the raise of $435 million in outside capital for six portfolio companies. He began his private equity career at CIBC Capital Partners, the merchant banking arm of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and worked at PNC Bank in the Communications Lending and Loan Workout Departments. He earned his M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his B.B.A. from the College of William and Mary.
David has over 25 years of private placement experience in both the US and Europe. Most recently, he worked with the Connecticut based placement group NovaFund Advisors. Prior to that, he headed in-house fund raising and investor relations for the Los Angeles based media and entertainment firm Screen Capital. He performed a similar role with Gladstone, a firm based in the District of Columbia focused on mezzanine investing. From 2003 to 2009, he headed North American fund raising for the European private equity group Sal Oppenheim Private Equity Partners (now owned by Deutsche Bank). From 1996 to 2003, he co-managed the private equity placement business for the German bank HypoVereinsbank from the New York branch. David started his private equity career in 1990 with the Austrian bank Creditanstalt, working in both Vienna and New York. He earned an MBA and MIA from Columbia University and a BA in physics/astrophysics with a minor in Russian studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
William joined Crito Capital in 2018. Prior to joining Crito, he was for 13 years a member of the Private Equity placement team at Ariane Capital Partners. During his time at Ariane his responsibilities centered on expanding his relationships with Single and Multi-Family Offices along with other Wealth Managers and Advisors. He has participated in 50+ mandates, including VC, Growth and PE funds, advising fundraising teams on strategy, positioning and advanced communication and presentation skills. Prior to his association with Ariane he spent 4 years at the University of Pennsylvania's Development Office where he concentrated on building long-term relationships with HNW/UHNW alumni in order to raise seven-figure commitments to its endowment. Before starting at Penn he was 11 years with VideoLearning Systems, a leading broker of management training systems, selling group and enterprise-wide applications, with responsibility for developing long-term, key-account relationships with the Senior Executives of Fortune 500 clients. Previously, as an entrepreneur, he was head of Business Development for 3 years as a Co-founder and Principal of V-Graph, a software firm that created and developed training programs for corporate and government entitities. William received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Sarah has worked in investment management for over 23 years. Prior to Crito Capital, Sarah ran Beckside Capital, a consulting company. Prior to Beckside, Sarah worked with Apogee Global Advisors, a precious metals fund, where she was responsible for fund raising. Prior to Apogee, she was Vice President of Marketing and Investor Relations for Lincoln Vale, LLC, a global alternative investment management firm focusing on niche hedge funds and private equity funds. Prior to this role, Sarah was a partner in Blue Dragon Capital - a copper arbitrage trading fund. Before her work with Blue Dragon, she was a Vice President at Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation both in New York and London, where she developed investment portfolios for high net worth clients. Sarah is an Advisory Board Member of a biotech company, MyoSyntax. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from De Montfort University in the United Kingdom.
Ileana is an experienced financial services professional. Prior to joining Crito Capital, she was a consultant specializing in political risk insurance and project finance. She also worked at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) for over a decade, including roles as the Global Head of Business Strategy and Client Development, the Global Head for the Financial Sector, and the Regional Manager for Underwriting Operations in Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Prior to joining MIGA, Ileana worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). She was the Regional Representative for IFC for Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Paraguay. Based in Buenos Aires, she was in charge of the regional office and business development in the region. Before going to Argentina for the IFC, Ileana was Principal Investment Officer for financial sector operations in Latin America and the Caribbean, and prior to that, for Manufacturing and Finance, North Africa and Middle East, and Eastern Europe. She joined the World Bank Group as a Young Professional and worked in the Latin America Industry Trade and Finance department. Prior to the World Bank Group, Ileana worked at Corporación Financiera de Desarrollo (COFIDE) in Peru. She holds an MBA from Boston University, a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Lima, and has completed the World Bank sponsored Executive Development Program at Harvard University.
Ted focuses on US institutional investor coverage, in addition to private fund and direct investment origination. Previously, Ted was a Vice President at TransPacific Group, an independent placement agent boutique where he was responsible for manager origination, due diligence, analysis of global alternative investment markets and general business development. Prior to TransPacific Group, Ted was a Principal at Paris based Triago, one of the oldest private equity specialty advisors, where he covered US institutional investors. Before transitioning to the capital raising side of private equity, Ted was an Investment Associate at SK Capital Partners. Earlier, Ted worked for Real Estate investment firm Tungsten Partners and in the Structured Principal Investing Group at Barclays Capital where he focused on junior capital/mezzanine and minority equity investments. Ted began his career in the Financial Sponsors Group at Lehman Brothers. Ted received a BA with Honors in Economics from Haverford College and attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Florence is responsible for the coordination of client activities across Europe. Prior to joining Crito Capital, Florence spent over 17 years in the investment, private equity, M&A and risk management functional disciplines leading multi-disciplinary teams at firms such as Willis, Aon and Marsh & McLennan. After graduating from business school, she joined Gras Savoye (Willis Group) the leading risk management & insurance brokerage firm in France, to advise corporate clients. In 2000, she joined Aon to focus on transaction services and due diligence. In 2005 she moved to Marsh & McLennan where she focused on diligence for private equity transactions, also based in Paris. Florence holds an undergraduate degree in organizational psychology from Yale University. She holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Administration. She also holds a Masters degree in Sustainable Studies from the International Institute of Management in Paris. Florence speaks six languages, French, English, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese, listed in order of fluency. Florence is affiliated with Crito Capital LLP.
Investment Advisory
Serafettin Gunes is a seasoned portfolio manager. He is responsible for advising and executing investment strategies based on clients’ objectives, as well as product development for Crito Capital. He has been running his “mid-cap compounder equity strategy” as an in-house project beginning January 2022. He started his career in Istanbul in 1995 and then was hired by DLJ`s London office proprietary desk to trade Eastern Europe assets in 1998. In the following years has co-founded two Emerging Market focus hedge funds. After moving to Portugal, he started his own investment advisory company, Toros Capital, in 2008, which took on project-based investment advisory work for hedge funds and other clients. He earned a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, and an MBA from Darden Business School at the University of Virginia. He has completed the first curricular year in the Health Data Science PhD program at the University of Porto.
Investment Banking
Before founding Crito Capital, Ted worked as an investment analyst, portfolio manager, product and sales manager and distribution professional. His expertise includes new product development, fund analysis and selection, and due diligence review. Prior to Crito, he was affiliated with Ariane Capital Partners, a registered broker/dealer and placement agent. Prior to Ariane, Ted was Director of Business Development with The Rohatyn Group, an investment adviser focused on emerging markets. At Rohatyn, he served in a number of capacities including US institutional distribution and private equity product management. Prior to Rohatyn, he worked in institutional distribution with Davis Advisors. Before his role at Davis, he managed the asset management business at a brokerage firm and held senior positions at Lazard Asset Management in New York and London. Ted began his career in the investment business at Wilkinson, O’Grady & Co., as an investment analyst. He earned an undergraduate degree from Tufts University, cum laude, majoring in History and Philosophy. Ted received an MBA from The University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Administration. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and works at the firm’s Westport office.
Ann is an experienced corporate finance executive with a track record of establishing financial services enterprises in developing markets. Drawing on a career as a transactional attorney, Ann has built substantial expertise in broker/dealer regulatory issues. During the 1990s, Ann served as the COO of a group of Moscow-based financial services businesses held by the Pioneer Group. After returning to New York, Ann was the co-founder of a start-up mortgage securitization business in Poland. Ann then joined NewLine Advisors, LLC, a financial advisory firm specializing in housing finance and structured finance, where she was also a partner in a regional investment vehicle established as a joint venture with The Rohatyn Group to finance consumer and mortgage assets in Emerging European countries. Ann began her career practicing securities law in New York, primarily in public finance. She is a Graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and a member of the New York bar. Her undergraduate studies were in English and Economics at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Matt focuses his efforts on sophisticated tax and investment planning strategies for professional investors—chiefly Family Offices and Corporations. Prior to joining the Crito team, he was a partner at XXI Securities, an arbitrage boutique in NYC. Additionally, he was the managing director of Laidlaw Adams & Peck’s Washington DC office. He received a Bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati (history, economics) and a Masters degree from Columbia University (School of International and Public Affairs).
Senior Advisors
Bruce has a distinguished career in private equity including directing the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System $6 billion private equity investment portfolio for eleven years before retiring from PA SERS. He joined Crito Capital in 2018, along with his Ariane Capital Partners' colleagues, Don Kraftson and William Daniels. At Ariane, Bruce served as a Senior Advisor providing strategic counsel to Ariane and its clients. In earlier days he practiced tax, commercial real estate, and business law with the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania firm of McNees, Wallace & Nurick. He served as an Army intelligence analyst with the 628th Military Intelligence Battalion. He earned a B.S. from Albright College, an M.S. from Pennsylvania State University, and a J.D. from University of Pittsburgh.
Peter has extensive experience in global financial and investment arenas. After qualifying as an accountant, was the deputy CIO for the Derbyshire County Council pension scheme and later the CIO of the South Yorkshire County Council pension scheme. He was the founding CEO of Combined Actuarial Performance Services. He held the position of CIO for the Halifax Building Society’s pension scheme before becoming the head of the Society’s financial services business. He was CEO of the Save & Prosper Group within Robert Fleming and Head of the financial services division of the Great Universal Stores Group. He was a Managing Director at Cambridge Associates. At CA, he was head of long-only manager research and private investments related to agriculture, timber and water. He served as the Head of the Singapore office, where he managed a team of investment consultants, specialist consultants, and research staff. He contributed to several research projects and was a frequent presenter at industry conferences. He was also involved in strategic planning for the firm. He continues to sit on the investment committee of a Cambridge Associates client. Most recently, he was a Senior Partner and CIO with Aqueduct Investment Partners, promoting agriculture as an institutional investment class and developing appropriate investment vehicles. Peter is an Associate, United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals, a regular member of the CFA, and received his BA in Politics and Economics from Durham University.
Compliance & Risk
Eunice is the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of Crito Capital LLC, and has close to 20 years of professional experience in the finance industry. Eunice began her financial services career at Smith Barney as a registered sales assistant. She then spent 5 years at Lime Rock Partners, a private equity firm specializing in the upstream oil and gas sector. Eunice then transitioned back into the brokerage business and was affiliated with LPL Financial. Prior to joining Crito Capital she was the Compliance Principal at TR Capital Group, LLC, a small retail broker dealer. Eunice holds the SIE and the Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
